J Terrance Lanni

A big time player in Las Vegas, J Terrance Lanni has been the CEO and Chairman of MGM Mirage for over four years and he has been with the company for over a decade. He earns well over $120 million a year and is on more than one board of some sort.

Known to turn down republican type companies for campaign contributions, this big time Vegas player has done many things to the massive MGM Mirage name over his reign.

Many of peers say that he makes his job look so easy, but we all know that it simply cannot be all that simple. After all he is running a multi billion dollar company that is one of the top 2 gaming companies in the world.

He successfully guided the company through its recent merger with other casino giant Mandalay Resort Group. We feel he is totally worthy of a mention in our online gambling site’s Influential People in gaming section for sure.

He has held a position (in 2000) on the board of Youbet.com, one of online gambling’s major web sites. He is in his early 60s and doesn’t seem to show it at all.

He is a big time horse racing fan and he owns many thoroughbred horses of his own.

In the past, he has served as a member of the Gambling Impact Study Commission, which is a federal panel that used to study the social and economic principles of gambling in the United States. This panel commenced its finding almost 7 years ago.

While his major concern is obviously land based gambling, he has had a past in dealings with online gambling.
