August 2 / Episode Eight > The Casino
Reality TV Show
Right away, we realize this episode is one that we don't
want to miss. More than any other episode, it seems that
this one shows us Vegas gambling and Vegas entertainment,
all wrapped up in one episode.
While Tom is planning a local
celebrity dinner to formally introduce himself, along with
Tim as the new owners of the casino, word gets out that an
infamous card counter by the name of Andy Bloch might be
headed to the Nugget, to take advantage of the new casino
owners.
While surveillance is waiting
for this guy to show, Tim has another problem to deal with
first. Tim has a high roller in the house named Frankie that
he has extended a credit of one million dollars to. Right
away, on the first night and under the watchful eye of Tim
and Tom, this guy is losing fast. Around midnight, Tim and
Tom decide to call it a night thinking that they will check
in on the situation in the morning. When the morning comes,
Tim finds out rather quickly that Frankie has skipped out on
his tab. Hang on, Tim has a forwarding number, and tracks
the guy down conveniently playing a round of golf. Yes, with
two hundred thousand cash right there in his golf cart,
originally they were to meet at the bank. Clearly eight
hundred dollars short of the million dollar debt, Tim seems
to have worked out some kind of deal with the guy. Some
nerve!
During this time we also get
to see Tommy (the new Junior Host) venture to the Cotton
Tail Ranch. This is a brothel in Northern Nevada that he
thinks he has the 'hook-up' at. He takes a friend with him
and they quickly realize that they have been tricked. The
girls are less than attractive to say the least (no offense)
and they cost two thousand dollars! What! Did he really
think this was going to be free anyway? They sneak out as
fast as they can and head back home.
As the celebrity dinner is
coming together, we finally get to see what happens with
Andy Bloch, the card counter. He is spotted and observed
communicating by signals to a guy at a blackjack table. The
minute he sits at the table security is all over him and
they ask him, well make him, leave. It is very interesting
to learn the details of how casinos deal with card counters.
This show definitely schools you on the details, too.
At the celebrity dinner we
get a chance to see some of the local celebrities in Vegas,
most recognizable being Sheena Easton. She was a very
popular singer from the '80's. Most notable being Frank
Marino. He has worked in Vegas for about 20 years as a
female impersonator and he is most famous for his impression
of Joan Rivers. Anyway at this dinner, Matt Dusk (the swing
singer at Zax)seems out of the loop when he has no idea who
any of the people are at his table. At this time, we learn
that Frank Marino has invited the rest of his act to crash
the dinner. In walks some of the most dead-on ringers we
have ever seen for star impersonators ever. We see a Michael
Jackson look-alike (and a damn good one at that), along with
Cher, and many more, along with a so-so Jennifer Lopez.
While this group is entertaining and exciting, Tim and Tom
decide that this is not the Rat Pack of the old days.
Feeling this way, it seems that they think Matt Dusk is the
closest they have to the old glory days. lastly, they say
they will give him a shot at the show room. But wait...
Check back next week when we
see what happens (already) to Matt Dusk's dream of becoming
the headlining act when the (not very Rat Pack) Barenaked
Ladies (rock group) want the show room all to themselves.
Also we'll see what happens when a seemingly innocent
bachelorette party goes wrong. Stay Tuned -
