July 5 / Episode Four >
The Casino Realty TV Show
In this episode we get to meet some very
interesting characters. By now, if you are a regular watcher
and update reader, you realize of course that we will not be
seeing much of the gambling itself with this reality show.
After all, why should this show be any different than the
many other reality shows out there? Did you really think you
would be learning the secret to Baccarat strategy anyway?
Everybody already knows there really isn't one. So, why not
get entertained in another way. It's not about the game,
it's about the people, and we sure do get to see some
interesting points of view from their perspective.
We are first treated to Tim and Tom racing
to work (Do they live together?) in there cars for a wager
of five thousand dollars. Tim declares this to be "pocket
change", but after beating Tom, Tim pretty much sweats Tom
for his winnings through the entire episode. Toms reply is
"you'll get it in 8 to 10 days". These guys are so
competitive, they finally decide that a game of Gin for
double or nothing will decide who wins the money. At least
for now anyway.
This week we meet Eulisha and her
friend Joan. They are driving to Vegas to win enough money
to pay off Eulisha's Porche Carrera (aptly named 'Porchina
Del La Quise') . While these two are immediately likeable
and humorous, we as the viewer have to be wondering if they
really think it will be that easy. Eulisha is the cocky one
declaring that she is there to make a 'withdrawal' from
Vegas, not a 'deposit'. None the less, they are fun to
watch. While these two are working out in the fitness room
they run into Justine, a psychic who is quick to give them a bit of
advice and it seems for the most part to be accurate.
Eulisha does not win the money to pay off her Porche, but
she does get a chance to flex her vocal chords signing
'Amazing Grace' with Matt Dusk at Zax lounge. She is so good
that Matt fears for his job. His agent even gives her a
business card.
While this is all going on, we meet Brian, Feleisha, and their
two young sons. This young family has come to Vegas (also) hoping to win money for a specific
reason. They want to go to Disney. So, why take the family
to Vegas so you can win enough money to go to Disney you
ask. Maybe Mom and Dad want an excuse to go to Vegas and
gamble. At least it seems that way when, right after
check-in, Mom and Dad bolt to the casino, leaving the kids
in the (upgraded) hotel room. Don't get me wrong, this seems
to be a dream come true for these two young boys as they are
quick to ring up room service (don't tell Dad) and order every dessert they can think off. Come on, Mom and Dad
will never know. Unless they actually LOOK at the hotel
bill. It's just as well that they get to have some fun
because they certainly aren't going to Disney with Dad's
luck at gambling. After also consulting with the psychic,
who says he'll never win money as long as his wife is there
to distract him, he realizes he needs to make it up to the
kids by taking them to an area attraction called
Stratosphere.
Now we go back to the blackjack dealer
Tommy, he finally gets his shot at hosting. Tim offers him a
peak at the job by letting him shadow another host Steve
Grady. After basically babysitting a drunken (high roller)
cowboy, Tommy finds that this job has many challenges. We
also find out that his job as a dealer has it's own
challenges. He deals some winning hands to his sometime
girlfriend Alexis. This is strictly against policy and he
almost gets fired for it. I doubt they will fire this guy
while he is so entertaining to watch. Besides, his pit boss
Monique would have no one to despise. I have a feeling we'll
be seeing much more of Tommy.
Check back here next week to
see what develops when Matt Dusk wants out of the lounge and
into the showroom. Will he get the chance to broaden his
singing career? We'll also find out what happens when Tom's
idea of bringing in showgirls to spice up the casino gets
out off control. Stay tuned - The
