Keno Basics
If you like playing the lottery,
you'll love playing Keno. In fact, Keno offers better odds
and obviously more frequent games. While it is said that the
major drawback to this game is the staggering house
advantage, around 30%, many people love to play for the same
reasons they play the lottery, for the chance to win a very
large amount of money in return for a small investment.
There are many sites to play this game on the internet, and
it is played at most land casinos.
Like the lottery, you will
need lots of luck to win. By reading our Keno Tips Section
completely you will be able to understand the proper way to
play this, if nothing else, very entertaining game.
The game exists of three
primary components; the ticket, the ball hopper also known
as the 'goose' or cage, and the display board.
Quite simply, the game will
most always be played in the following manner. On a ticket
with the numbers 1-80, the player will mark anywhere from
1-20 numbers. The ball hopper will then randomly pick 20
balls (from at total of 80). Those 20 numbers are then
displayed on the board.
To win, players must have
enough numbers from their ticket (spots) match the random
numbers that came up on the board. How many numbers it takes
to qualify for winning will vary by game, as will the
payout. Payouts (amount of money a winning ticket is worth)
are determined by three factors. The amount of numbers
(spots) the player has selected on the ticket, the number of
those spots that came up, and the amount wagered on the
ticket. It is recommended that you familiarize yourself with
the pay schedules and betting limits before you start.
Again, these such things will vary from casino to casino.
Almost all the winning
combinations for Keno have odds of greater than 10 to 1.
Most are in the area of 100 to 1 or more.
Like playing this game in a
casino, internet sites usually have games running
continually, if not very frequently. Playing on the internet
is very convenient and simple. Even playing in casinos has
become very convenient. You can play while eating in many of
the casino restaurants, where you are very likely to see
blank tickets at the tables ready for you to fill out and
hand to a runner. Runners are casino employees who will take
your card to the Keno lounge and register it for the next
possible game. You will then be provided with a copy of your
ticket and you will be able to watch display boards right
there in the place you are eating. Runners are very easy to
find and will even provide you will tickets if you can't
find one to fill out. Remember, the runner is there as a
courtesy and if they do a good job, you should tip them.
