Both sides take stance on south Reno casino

In Reno, Nevada, both sides, opposition and those for it, are planning for Reno's newest hotel-casino.

Next Wednesday, representatives for the Atlantis Casino Resort will plead their case to the Reno City Council. The plans include a five-storyhotel with 201suites, described as a resort, and spa. The proposed property will be located in the south part of Reno.

Opposition said to include parents of students at neighboring Bishop Manogue High School will reportedly be attesting that new casino resort location will not be a proper location, because it would be built right next to the school, less than 1,000 feet away.

Monarch Casino & Resort Inc., the parent company of Atlantis Casino Resort, is requesting the city allow zoning and plan revisions to make-way for a casino resort to be built in the spot located on South Virginia Street.

Even though the formal request being made next Wednesday is only the for the two changes mentioned above, the company is also intending to show the developing plans for the casino resort.
