Soccer
stars mull legal
action with
wager sites
February 26
In Spain, there are
five
soccer players from
Real Madrid's team
that are a little
upset with 7 online
wagering sites on
the Internet. Real
Madrid has announced
that the star
players are poised
to take legal action
stemming from the
fact that seven
different online
betting companies
have been using
their images without
their personal
approval.
The five players
concerned are David
Beckham,
Zinedine Zidane,
Luis Figo,
Raul Gonzalez, and
Ronaldo. The players
have jointly
contacted a lawyer
by the name of
Jean-Luis Dupont.
Also, the entire
team
is taking part in
the legal action.
Real Madrid contends
that the Internet
companies are
applying Real
Madrid's name,
and/or logo, along
with pictures on the
Internet sites
without official
team endorsement.
Mostly known
for his triumphant
ruling in he widely
famed Jean-Marc
Bosman ruling in
1995, Jean-Luis
Dupont is readying
his potential case.
In 1995, the
Jean-Marc Bosman
ruling permitted
players to play
unrestrained on
different European
Union soccer clubs.
