Today, Regal
Hotels
International, a
hotel company
based out of
Hong Kong,
announced it now
has an agreement
with Las Vegas
Sands Corp. to
build a casino
resort in Macau.
Regal now
joins a list of
at least five
companies that
have signed
letters of
intent with Las
Vegas Sands to
build casino
resorts in
Macau.
Some of the
other companies
that intend to
deal with Sands
on the potential
deal are
Starwood Hotels
and Resorts
Worldwide Inc.,
Four Seasons
Hotels Inc.,
Marriott
International
Inc.,
InterContinental
Hotels Group,
Possibly Hilton
Hotels Corp. and
even Hard Rock
International
has shown an
interest.
In 2004, Las
Vegas Sands
announced plans
with Hong
Kong-based Far
East Consortium
International
Ltd. to develop
and run a large
casino boasting
a 140,000 sq.
ft. casino and
showroom to be
leased to it by
Far East. The
planned property
will include 2
construction
phases yeilding
as many as 2,000
- 3,000 hotel
rooms total.
Next week,
Sands will be
hosting
investors in
Macau and the
company is not
currently making
any comments
regarding such
deals.
