2002
WSOP
Champ
wins
Extreme
Poker
Challenge
April 3
Many
online
casinos
poker
players
know who
Robert
Varkonyi
is. He
won the
2002
WSOP
Chamionship.
Known
for
being a
smooth
operator
and very
calm
player,
he is at
it
again.
He just
won
InterPoker.com’s
Extreme
Poker
Challenge.
This
time, he
wasn’t
as calm
as he
usually
is.
In a
drama
laden
final
event
from the
online
casinos
tourney,
he has
to come
from
behind
to carry
out a
big win.
Facing
temperatures
that
reached
-10
degrees
Fahrenheit,
the
poker
players
were
even
given
the
chance
of buy
back
chips
they
lost in
order to
get
their
coats
and wear
them.
In the
first
three
hands of
poker,
online
casino
qualifier
Daniel
Stein
not only
took
Varkonyi’s
stack of
chips,
but he
even
made him
have to
lose his
winter
gear to
stay in
the
game.
Varkonyi
later
started
to run
around
between
poker
hands to
keep
warm.
Talk
about
extreme.
Finally,
only
Varkonyi
and one
other
player
were
left in
the
poker
game.
Varkonyi
only had
a small
shirt
on, but
he
managed
to do it
and won
the
tournament.
In a
post
winning
interview,
Varkonyi
said
that
winning
made all
the
chilly
moments
totally
worth
it. In
fact, he
suffered
quite a
bit – he
was a
driven
man for
sure. He
went on
to say
that he
now
feels
very
prepped
for the
2006
World
Series
of Poker
With
this
victory,
he will
play at
the 2006
Extreme
Poker
Championship,
hosted
in the
waters
off St.
Kitts.
This
will no
doubt be
quite a
difference
in
climate.
In this
particular
event
players
were
perched
on what
seemed
to be an
endless
shelf of
frozen
water –
ice. It
was
right on
the
Arctic
Sea.
Many of
the
players
were
online
casino
qualifiers
who did
their
very
best to
win.
One
online
casino
qualifier
- Ulrik
Jensen
was
pumped
to play
in such
extreme
conditions
and also
looks
forward
to the
prospect
of St.
Kitts –
for time
to thaw
out.
At the
end of
the
event
held in
Finland,
InterPoker.com
revealed
that
every
poker
player
who
qualifies
for the
World
Series
of Poker
through
InterPoker.com
WSOP
satellite
tourneys
would be
entered
into the
qualifying
round at
the
upcoming
July
Extreme
Poker
event
titled
Loser's
Leap.
This
poker
event
will
take
place in
Las
Vegas
ten
thousand
feet
above
the area
in a
plane
where
losers
will
have to
jump and
parachute
from the
plane
when
thay are
out of
money!
Yes!
