Harrah’s
to
build
new
casino
in
Biloxi
April
11,
2007
In
an
online
gambling
news
brief
we
want
to
report
to
our
readers
about
the
new
plan
for
a
big
casino
built
by
Harrah’s
in
Biloxi.
Mississippi.
Many
of
out
online
casino
gambling
fans
out
there
know
about
Biloxi
from
either
going
there
to
gamble
or
from
the
huge
devastating
action
from
Hurricane
Katrina
nearly
two
years
ago.
Today,
we
have
learned
that
Harrah's
Entertainment
Inc.
has
great
plans
in
effect
to
construct
a
new
land
based
casino
in
Biloxi,
intensifying
its
presence
in
the
Mississippi
Gulf
Coast
gambling
area,
which
is
still
obviously
recharging
its
batteries
from
massive
hurricane
damage.
Some
of
our
online
gambling
news
article
readers
out
there
may
remember
that
Harrah's
Grand
Biloxi
Casino
was
one
of
many
barge
floating
casinos
dotted
around
the
coastal
town
that
were
almost
completely
destroyed
by
Hurricane
Katrina,
which
battered
the
Gulf
Coast
with
high
winds
and
a
massive
storm
surge.
In
fact
it
was
the
storm
surge
that
did
the
most
damage
–
not
the
wind.
So,
because
of
the
massive
flooding,
casino
wanted
to
rebuild
on
land
instead
of
on
floating
barges
to
come
back
to
the
area
at
all.
Without
the
ability
to
build
on
land,
many
casinos
were
not
ready
to
rebuild
due
to
the
massive
amounts
of
money
they
lost
with
Katrina.
Legislature
has
been
changed
and
reconsidered
in
order
to
bring
more
casinos
back
to
the
area.
The
town
is
still
not
back
to
100%
and
this
new
casino
will
certainly
help.
The
local
economy
pretty
much
completely
relies
on
gambling
income,
even
though
it
is a
coastal
town.
With
nearby
Florida
beaches
claiming
so
many
visitors,
gambling
has
to
return
to
100%
in
the
Biloxi
area
for
economy
sake.
We
will
keep
our
online
gambling
readers
posted
as
to
any
ne2w
information
regarding
the
new
casino
from
Harrah’s
as
soon
as
details
become
public.
