Irish Open has Irish winner

The winner, a well-liked Northern Irish man by the name of Marty Smyth won the event. It was the 26th Irish Open and it took place in the Burlington Hotel in Dublin. The event just ended on the 9^th. Waterford poker players, Nicky Power and Brian O'Keeffe ended up 6th and 5^th respectively. 5th place won €125,000 and 6^th earned €100,000.

Also, Daniel McHugh from Mayo came in 4^th, winning €175,000. A very young player named Sorel Mizzi came in 3^rd winning himself €210,000 to take back to Canada with him. 2^nd place won €325,000.

Another poker player, Tom Finneran, won a seat at this year’s US WSOP Main Event taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada in July.

This year's Irish Open event, will broadcast on RTE Two and Challenge TV later in the month. This year’s event was the largest tournament ever held in Europe with more than seven hundred poker players vying for the big win.
