Steve
Wynn
eying
Saratoga
Springs
and
NY
racing
April
9,
2007
For
many
years,
online
gambling
enthusiasts
have
not
been
able
to
ignore
the
work
of
Steve
Wynn.
He
has
literally
changed
the
face
of
Las
Vegas
– or
at
least
is a
leading
reason
why
it
is
so
elegant.
If
you
have
ever
stepped
foot
inside
the
Bellagio,
or
his
absolutely
astounding
Wynn
Las
Vegas
casino
resort,
you
know
exactly
what
we
are
talking
about.
Then
there
was
the
Picasso
he
ruined
(wasn’t
it
worth
about
$40
million).
Hey,
he
may
have
sweated
that
for
a
few,
but
all
in
all,
that
kind
of
money
was
not
the
end
of
the
world
for
him.
If
only
he
could
do
for
online
gambling
design
what
he
has
done
for
land
based
design.
He
is
the
Trump
of
casinos
(and
possibly
more
if
you
ask
us).
Anyway,
when
you
hear
that
he
may
be
eying
a
New
York
racing
deal,
your
ears
perk
up
at
the
though
of
him
doing
for
racetracks
what
he
has
dome
for
casinos.
In
Saratoga,
New
York,
a
newspaper
is
reporting
that
Wynn
has
taken
a
keen
interest
in
New
York
racing.
In
an
unexpected
last
minute
advance,
casino
mogul
Steve
Wynn
is
now
partnering
with
Excelsior
Racing
Associates
in
an
effort
to
win
New
York's
racing
charter.
Steve
Wynn
was
a
component
of a
group
called
Thoroughbred
Racing
New
York
that
entered
a
late
bid
then
cancelled
stating
that
it
did
not
have
time
to
put
in
order
its
business
plan
sufficiently.
Excelsior
Racing
won
a
state
impromptu
committee's
proposal
in
late
2006
as
the
company
that
would
best
serve
as
the
operator
to
run
3
tracks
-
Saratoga
Race
Course,
Belmont
Park
and
Aqueduct.
In
recent
times,
George
Steinbrenner's
daughter
Jennifer
made
a
statement
that
she
was
divorcing
Excelsior
partner
Steve
Swindal
and
days
later
Steinbrenner
said
that
he
and
the
Yankees
were
pulling
out
of
that
company’s
bid
for
the
track
deal.
Oh
the
politics.
What’s
more,
Excelsior
appeared
to
have
all
of a
sudden
fallen
out
of
serious
deliberation,
but
Wynn's
extremely
massive
amount
of
holdings
and
cash
could
change
all
that.
As
online
gambling
enthusiasts,
we
love
drama
and
excitement.
That
last
minute
bet
we
thrown
down
always
excites
us;
this
racing
deal
seems
to
be
the
same
concept.
We
will
continue
to
watch
this
story
and
report
any
new
and
interesting
developments
for
our
online
gambling
news
article
readers
out
there.
Contemplating
the
possibilities
of
Steve
Wynn’s
to
get
involved
in
eth
NY
tracks
is
very
compelling.
If
he
were
to
get
seriously
involved
in
any
major
plans
for
upgrading
the
tracks,
we
just
know
it
would
be
top
notch.
Steve
Wynn
has
long
been
an
important
part
of
the
revamping
of
Las
Vegas
in
the
past
decade
or
so.
He
has
spread
his
wings
into
Macau,
Asia’s
tiny
island
of
gambling
that
has
in
recent
months
claimed
to
surpass
Las
Vegas
gambling
casino
earnings.
