Asia
Still
Not
Ready
for
Online
Gambling
April

2008
Bodog
Life
was
considered
to
be
at
the
forefront
of
online
gambling
in
Asia,
but
according
to
the
company,
no
one
is
there
yet.
Many
thought
that
it
looked
pretty
good
for
the
mainland
to
start
offering
online
gambling
access
to
its
residents,
but
now
it
seems
that
there
are
many
road
blocks
in
the
way
to
that
becoming
a
reality.
According
to
Calvin
Ayre,
Bodog’s
founder,
there
are
many
issues
that
must
first
be
addressed
before
online
gambling
will
be
allowed.
They
say
that
they
are
not
ready
to
give
up
on
the
issue
yet,
but
that
they
are
proceeding
with
caution.
They
say
that
they
do
“not
have
any
Asian
plans
at
this
time,”
but
admits
that
they
are
still
looking
into
the
possibilities.
To
move
into
the
Asian
online
gambling
market,
there
are
several
issues
at
hand.
There
is
the
fact
that
there
are
currency
differences
there
that
are
not
found
in
many
of
the
other
online
gambling
markets;
there
are
cultural
differences;
and
there
are
communication
issues.
All
of
these
things
must
be
overcome
before
they
can
even
consider
bringing
in
online
gambling.
Many
of
the
smaller
online
gambling
companies
are
now
looking
to
see
what
Bodog
does.
If
they
move
forward,
then
they
will
follow
suit.
However,
if
Bodog
chooses
not
to
move
into
the
Asian
online
gambling
market,
then
assuredly
it
will
be
some
time
before
anyone
else
gives
it a
try
either.
