Wall
Street
Journal
Urges
Surrender
April
11,
2008
According
to
the
Wall
Street
Journal,
the
United
States
Government
might
want
to
reconsider
sticking
to
their
guns
with
the
Unlawful
Internet
Gambling
Enforcement
Act
introduced
in
October
2006.
They
encourage
regulation
instead
of
prohibition.
They
are
in
support
of
Barney
Frank’s
bill
to
regulate
online
gambling,
especially
now
with
all
of
the
problems
that
we
have
had
with
Antigua
and
the
European
Union.
They
say
that
by
passing
the
regulation
bill
they
could
solve
all
of
their
problems
with
the
stroke
of
the
pen.
It
also
talked
about
the
problems
that
the
banks
are
having
right
now
with
the
onus
having
been
put
on
them
for
knowing
whether
or
not
a
transaction
is
an
online
gambling
one
or
not.
They
say
that
this
cannot
be
expected
of
them,
and
the
banks
agree.
They
find
it
amusing
that
for
once
we
are
the
ones
breaking
the
laws
of
the
World
Trade
Organization,
and
yet
still
asking
the
other
countries
to
abide
by
laws
that
we
ourselves
will
not
abide
by.
The
European
Union
says
that
we
are
discriminating
against
them
unfairly
and
trying
to
create
a
monopoly
for
ourselves.
They
may
be
right.
They
also
point
out
that
we
are
“practicing
a
form
of
universal
jurisdiction”
and
we
are
applying
our
laws
to
foreigners
which
we
have
complained
about
other
countries
doing.
They
urge
our
government
to
think
before
they
act.
