Danish Online Poker Could Be Getting Better

April 14, 2009

Danish online gambling has seen more than its fair share of drama. But now it looks like there could be some legislative changes coming to the country that could change all of that. The Danish Poker Committee has made some recommendations to the state that would change the way that online gambling is currently regulated and licensed.

Danish land poker has long been under discussion as the laws changed rather frequently. There were police raids on poker tournaments, court cases for and against the legalization of poker, and then more and more appeals, and so on and so forth and the more popular that poker became the more laws that were thrust upon them.

But now they are considering making land poker tournaments legal. Because the game of poker has become so popular, they are thinking that making poker tournaments outside of the casinos legal might actually work to their benefit. This would cut down on the amount of police and court time that is currently being spent trying to keep it illegal, and it would make their residents happy.

However, for now, online poker will remain illegal. They have specifically written into the new laws that they want online poker to remain illegal, because they dont feel that they have any one to truly regulate it. They say that for now, land based poker will be made legal, but online poker is to remain illegal. The proposal will not have any stipulations for making online poker legal at all.
