| GamblingPhD menu | Excitement Still Building? April 30, 2009 When the Elections were over, there were many in the online gambling community who were absolutely thrilled. They knew that with President Obama in office that it would simply be a matter of time before online gambling was legalized. They brushed off their computers and their laptops and waited for the legislation that would make all their dreams come true. The only problem is that the legislation has not come. Representative Barney Frank has reiterated over and over that he will be in support of the online gambling community and that he wants to see it legalized. He has not however, yet come up with the legislation that would make that happen. He has pushed back the date that it would be completed several times now, and now it looks as though the bill that he said would be done by the end of April wont happen either. Not only that, but for all their grumblings, there does not seem to be a clear cut plan from the rest of the government to make it happen. It is not as if one guy is single handedly spearheading the legalize the online gambling movement rather there are many who jumped on board with the idea and then did nothing as well. The concern that online gambling enthusiasts are having is that if they try to pass legislation now that makes online gambling legal, they will have very little problem getting that accomplished. But if they wait a few months or years they will find that the support and excitement that they had for it has dwindled leaving only the die hards to continue fighting. Back to April 09 Archive. |
