Online Gambling Moving to the Future

April 14, 2009

With online gambling looking as though there is really very little time before it is legal and the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act is overturned, many are wondering what the next steps for the industry will be. They have spent so much time over the past few years fighting to get online gambling legalized that they are now going to have to start putting their focus on other areas like how to grow and change from where they are now.

Some say that with online gambling quickly gathering strength to be legalized, that it is only fitting that sports gambling will assuredly be the next thing. With so many people already participating in sports betting, online gambling should embrace the concept so that they have more to offer.

Some say that it should not be limited to that. Bill Simmons, a sports columnist for ESPN says that there is a market for purchased future sports bets. This means that online gamblers could bet on thing that is yet to be worth anything. Lets say you have a ticket to a sporting event that could potentially be worth a lot. You could have a ticket to a football game for a team that isnt doing great and you could offer it for a certain amount of money betting on the fact that it will eventually be worth more than it is now.

The idea is that you place a bet hoping that the ticket will be worth more than it is now and sometimes it might pay off and sometimes it might not. It is a gamble, but then that is what online gambling is all about betting and hoping for a good return.
