| GamblingPhD menu | Ladbrokes Taking Matters Into Their Own Hands April 15, 2009 The online gambling company Ladbrokes has a real problem with the fact that the Swedes have created an online gambling monopoly within their own country. The company says that not only are they going against the wishes of their countrymen but that they are breaking the law in as far as the European Union is concerned. They have decided to start hollering about the unjust nature of it, and they are doing it loudly. The online gambling company has started actively advertising against their monopoly saying that this is the governments problem and they need to fix it. They say that Swedish citizens want online gambling, and the fact that the government is looking to keep them from visiting online casinos should be outlawed. Ladbrokes is of course one of the worlds largest online gambling companies, and they handle land based gambling as well. They have the resources to cry out on behalf of the countrys citizens and are doing so. They have started developing commercials that discuss how much money the Swedes are spending on keeping out online gambling. They talk about the higher prices that they have to pay at the online gambling sites in their country and how by limiting what they have access to the government is keeping them from benefiting from an open market. The European Union is upset with the online gambling ban as well and has been working with other groups to try and get the ban reversed. They say that the online gambling ban is wrong on many levels and that they are working to get it overturned. With so many against it, one would think that they would have some sort of effect, but so far there have been no changes to the law. Back to April 09 Archive. |
