| GamblingPhD menu | Online Gambling Seminars April 28, 2009 With France looking to legalize online gambling, there are steps being taken to come up with the proper regulations for the industry. The country has a lot of ground to cover in that they have made online gambling illegal for many years and now they have to both rewrite the laws that pertain to it, but they also have to come up with regulations for it as well. Next month they step things up a bit with a series of seminars for online gambling. The politicians that have been responsible so far for coming up with the wording for online gambling legalization will be available for discussions as they relate to the industry. This way if people have questions, they should be able to get them answered. Each seminar will host a different topic and a different government official. The first online gambling seminar is in reference to the French gaming model and its adaptation to the online milieu and EU law and will be held on May 5th. French National Assembly member Jacques Myard will be hosting. May 11ths seminar will be in reference to online gambling product offerings and will be hosted by Nicolas About, Senator and President of the Commission on Social Affairs. The online gambling seminar on May 19th will be chaired by MPs Marc Francina and Etienne Blanc, with Senators Franois Trucy and Jean-Franois Lamour, both of whom were responsible for the draft regulation to the Senate and National Assembly in attendance as well. They will discuss the impact of online gambling and mobile gaming. Finally, on May 28th Antoine Cheron will host a discussion on intellectual property and regulatory enforcement issues as they pertain to online gambling. Each of the events will be covered by the media as well, and should prove to be very enlightening for all those in attendance. Back to April 09 Archive. |
