San Francisco Area set for
huge casino
August 17
California's Governor Arnold
Schwarzenegger is nearing an agreement with a Northern
California Indian tribe that intends to build one of the
largest casinos in the world. The intended casino facility
is set to be built right in the San Francisco Bay Area. If
all goes well, the contract is said to be signed as early as
Thursday of this week.
The contract is between the
Lytton Band of Pomo Indians and the state of California. It
is noted that the casino is expected to be built in San
Pablo located in the East Bay. San Pablo is located
approximately 14 miles north of Oakland.
The site is proposing the
allowance of 5,000 slot machines. It is noted that MGM Grand
in Las Vegas has 3,200 slot machines. Sources say that the
tribe would pay approximately 25% of its gaming profits to
the state of California in return for their support of the
new casino. This is a far larger amount than the other five
tribes have offered the state so far.
It is expected that the other tribes will
follow suit with their proposals to the state. Gov.
Schwarzenegger in the past has not supported the other
tribes intentions. No that this contract is said to be very
likely renegotiations are bound to take place. |
