Mississippi
and Gulf
Coast
casinos
wiped
out
August
30
At this
time
reports
are
still
foggy,
but it
is
becoming
quite
clear
that
Hurricane
Katrina
has
devastated
the Gulf
Coast.
With
hundreds
of
thousands
of
people
without
a home
or job,
the
online
gambling
industry
as a
whole
feels
saddened
by the
massive
upheaval
the
hurricane
has
caused.
As many
of you
know,
Louisiana
and
Mississippi
are
known
for
their
casinos.
From
Lake
Charles
to the
Mississippi
Coast,
there
were
dozens
of
casino
resorts.
As of
yet we
are not
sure if
any of
the Lake
Charles
are
casinos
sustained
major
damage,
but it
is
certain
that the
Mississippi
casinos
are
wiped
out.
One news
crew
witnessed
the
Palace
Casino
resort
on the
Mississippi
Coast
slide
into the
Gulf.
The
casino
resort
had over
200
rooms
and a
casino
floor
bigger
than
14,000
square
feet.
Most of
the
other
casinos
were
completely
destroyed
others
nearly
the
same.
None
operable
at all.
The Beau
Rivage
seemed
to be
the only
very
recognizable
casino
left,
but it
was
trashed
nonetheless.
With the
effected
area's
entire
economy
at
stake,
we can't
help but
wonder
what
will
happen
to the
gambling
economy
in that
region.
Mississippi
alone,
counts
on the
more
than 8
major
casinos
that
were
docked
on it's
shores,
to
generate
economic
stability.
one
thing is
for
sure, it
will
m=be
months
before
we see
any
positive
come out
of this
unprecedented
mess.
Not only
do the
gambling
casino
workers
not have
jobs,
most of
them
(who
survived)
have no
homes.
Hopefully
the
online
gambling
community
all over
the
world
will
keep the
people
of the
Gulf
region
in there
thoughts
and
prayers.
