Riverboat casino reopens after water rises

August 11

For all of you online gambling players that have been following this story right here at Gambling PhD, we are happy to report that the riverboat that was shut down last Sunday is back in business.

Yesterday, the Harrah's Metropolis Casino opened it's door back up for gambling as usual. The riverboat was actually opened in the early evening hours, in time to get things back underway. The Metropolis has long been a popular spot for gambling, being in business for over twelve years.

After the 3 day closing due to shallow water levels - causing poor walking conditions, player filed right back in. The closure of the gambling boat docked on the Ohio River has estimated that some $1 million or so in revenue has been lost since closure.

Officials from Harrah's Metropolis were literally chomping at the bit to get the doors opened for a 6pm target time. The last part of the delay came from the Gaming Board from Illinois and the Fire Marshall. Once the go ahead was given, doors were back open with no further delay.

The company was actually very quick to respond to its closure by reconfiguring door entrances and ramps that had been shifted due to the grounding of the barge that connects the riverboat to the dock. Repairs were completed by Tuesday and Harrah's foung itself waiting on final clearance from the Board.

Regulars and employees alike were just glad to get back to normal.
