Antigua
Shooting
for
“White
List”
August
16,
2007
Antigua
has
announced
that
they
are
certain
that
they
will
make
the
“white
list”
that
is
issued
by
the
UK
government.
The
UK
government
has
decided
to
restrict
all
of
their
online
gambling
advertising
to
those
that
have
actual
credible
licenses.
With
this
announcement,
the
Caribbean
nation
of
Antigua
and
Barbuda
said
that
they
are
confident
of
making
the
list
as
their
online
gambling
requirements
are
very
similar
to
that
of
the
UK
Gambling
Commission.
The
UK’s
Department
of
Culture,
Media
and
Services
has
already
released
a
list
of
acceptable
jurisdictions,
and
said
that
they
were
considering
adding
Antigua
and
Kahnawake
in
Canada.
Right
now
Alderney
and
Isle
of
Man
are
the
only
two
who
hae
made
the
list,
while
the
other
applications
are
being
reviewed.
Alexander
in
Canada,
Tasmania
in
Australia,
and
Netherlands
Antilles
have
all
been
rejected
already.
Gibraltar
and
Malta
have
conditional
approval.
However,
Antigua
maintains
that
their
online
gambling
approval
is
pretty
much
a
done
deal,
and
they
don’t
foresee
any
reason
why
they
would
not
be
approved.
They
say
that
they
are
strict
in
their
online
gambling
licensing
with
regards
to
underage
online
gambling,
protection,
fairness,
and
policing
of
illicit
activities
and
crimes.
The
UK’s
white
list
is
something
that
will
be
continually
reviewed
and
updated,
and
Antigua
says
that
they
are
“looking
forward
to
working
with
the
United
Kingdom”
and
obtaining
online
gambling
licensing
approval.
They
are
consistently
working
to
develop
international
standards,
and
this
won’t
stop
whether
they
get
on
the
online
gambling
licensing
list
or
not.
