Online
Gambling
Tool
to
Be
Implemented
in
Sweden
August
21,
2007
There
is a
new
tool
for
online
casinos
that
will
assist
in
preventing
online
gambling
addiction.
The
new
tool,
“Spelkoll,”
will
help
online
casinos
keep
their
clients
from
developing
an
online
gambling
obsession
–
hence
helping
those
that
either
have
an
online
gambling
addiction
already,
or
have
yet
to
develop
one.
The
“Spelkoll”
or
“player
or
gambling
control”
as
it
is
defined,
is a
technology
development
that
would
identify
the
online
gambling
patterns
of a
player.
It
would
keep
track
of
the
ways
that
the
player
gambles
and
would
be
able
to
discern
if
someone
has
a
problem
or
if
they
were
in
the
process
of
developing
an
online
gambling
issue.
The
Swedish
government’s
online
gambling
website
Svenske
Spel
introduced
the
gaming
tool
in
July,
but
hardly
anyone
noticed.
However,
since
then,
more
and
more
people
have
been
noticing
the
new
program
and
people
are
interested.
It
is
currently
a
voluntary
sign
up
that
the
government
is
offering
–
this
way
people
can
know
for
themselves.
They
would
simply
use
the
software
which
would
then
let
them
know
if
they
were
developing
or
had
an
online
gambling
addiction.
The
online
gambling
prevention
program
would
check
how
people
play,
how
often
they
play,
what
they
wager,
etc.
and
would
divide
them
into
categories.
The
green
would
be
the
lowest
level
– or
no
online
gambling
addiction
detected,
while
orange
would
have
moderate
signs
of
online
gambling
addiction
and
red
would
mean
that
a
problem
was
definitely
developing
for
the
player.
