Obama Not Quite What They Had Hoped for

August 13, 2009

Many in the online gambling industry thought that it would be so nice when President Obama took office because the industry would be legal again and everything would be back to normal. However, they say that they are not seeing much change in the online gambling industry at all and that concerns them.

Many in the online gambling community wanted it made legal when Obama took office and they felt that they had a good chance of seeing that happen and so they voted for him. But now they say that instead of that they are looking at a president who so far seems the same as the one that left. They say that for all his talk of change it has not come as of yet to the online gambling industry.

They say that in polls people have shown him that online gambling is a priority for them. They also remark that during his running for president he was very clear that the internet should be free and that he, himself, enjoyed playing poker. But all of that seemed to go away once he was actually in office.

They say that he has not made any comments about Rep. Barney Frank’s bill in the House, nor has he said anything about the online gambling and poker players’ money that was seized by the government. There have not been any moves to overturn the UIGEA and other countries who thought that they were going to see a kindler, gentler president as it pertains to online gambling have been proved wrong.
