State
Attorney General started
legal proceedings with
the intent to halt the
state's newest
electronic gambling
business located in
White Hall.
Two days ago, King filed
an official objection in
Lowndes County,
defying
whether a constitutional
amendment allowing
electronic bingo games
in White Hall is really
legal. King claims the
2002 amendment to the
constitution should have
been decided on
statewide, not just in
Lowndes County, where
White Hall is seated.
Under Alabama's
constitution, any
amendment that stirs any
negative votes in the
Legislature has to be
voted on in all
counties. He adds that
the Lowndes County
amendment had one nay
vote in the Senate.
If
a judge does rule that
the constitutional
amendment is unfounded,
King reports that his
next action will be to
search for a court
ruling opposed to the
White Hall Gaming
Center. The gaming
center is located nearly
20 miles outside of
Montgomery.
