Gaming
rules to be
ready by February
December 17
In Oklahoma, if
federal gaming deals go
through, three
race tracks are set to
start gaming as early as
early spring 2005.
T
he
executive director of
the Oklahoma Horse
Racing Commission, has
announced that the group
in charge of writing the
rules for gaming at
racetracks anticipates
that it will have
completed its project by
February.
The
Oklahoma Horse Racing
Commission
is a group compiled of
gaming council, horse
track employees
and
law enforcement.
The next step is for
Gov. Brad Henry to
approve the rules. After
that, the three tracks
can begin their
operations. The parks
that are scheduled to
host the gaming are Blue
Ribbon Downs,
Remington Park and Will
Rogers Downs.
One thing that could
interfere with this is
the
U.S. Interior
Department's possible
permission of 9
tribal gaming deals in
Oklahoma. At this time,
no approvals have been
handed down to any of
the tribes involved.
