answers Vegas
competition in Macau

Well known gambling
tycoon Stanley Ho
has launched a
no-holds-barred
project that is sure
to stand-up against
his new competitors
from Las Vegas,
Nevada. Ho has
revealed his new casino
and theme park
project in the
gambling enclave of
Macau. Before the
new competition came
along, Ho held a
forty-year
monopoly in Macau.
The main event in
Ho's new plan to
upgrade is the
hotel-casino complex
Grand Lisboa. It
will showcase a
diamond-like
building with a
golden
high-rise spanning
over forty floors to
look
like a lotus flower
in the background.
This is notably
different look than
his existing flagship
casino resort, the Lisboa.
The $3 billion ($400
million US) complex
will have about 650
hotel rooms. A
representative for
Ho's gaming company
says that the final
number of game
tables is still to
be announced.
The casino phase
of the new Grand Lisboa
is slated for
completion by the
end the end of 2006,
with the hotel
section
to be completed by
the end of 2008.

other news, Ho
started construction
on the
Park Hyatt, a joint
venture with
Australian tycoon
Kerry Packer with
240 hotel rooms and
230,000 square
feet of gambling
space that is said
to be including some
1,300 slot machines
and 200
gambling tables.
