Gary Van Hettinga has been named by Atzar Corp. as the new president and general manager of the company's Tropicana resort located in Las Vegas. He will be replacing the departed Hector Mon, who took a job with another company.

Recently, Van Hettinga was senior vice president of slot marketing and operations at the Tropicana Resort located in Atlantic City. Additionally, he served as chief financial officer at Tropicana AC from 1995 to 2001. Hettinga began his career as a staff auditor for Arthur Young & Co.

Aztar Corp. President, Resort Operations Dennis Gomes holds Hettinga in high regards concerning the AC properties ability to grow. For the past nine years, Gomes has worked with Hettinga and obviously has a great deal of assurance that he will be the very key to the success when running the Tropicana in Las Vegas.

In June, Mon joined Boyd Gaming Corp. as its senior vice president of operations. His new position entails the running of  Boyd's riverboat casinos in the South and Midwest.
