Shuffle
Master
buys more patents
December 10
For a reported
$12.5million, Shuffle
Master Inc., the well
known table game maker,
bought two patents. The
patents were owned by
ENPAT Inc. and they
share a likeness to the
electronic tracking of
table games.
Shuffle Master's
purchase
clears the way for the
gaming company to
continue to license the
technology to slot maker
Mikohn Gaming Corp. and
even Gaming Partners
International Corp.
Gaming Partners is a
company that produces
electronically enhanced
playing chips and
readers for table games.
More and more we are
seeing casinos adopt the
new technology that
permits them to
electronically supervise
table games through
special chips and cards
that contain devices for
tracking.
This new patent purchase
is a fine example of how
Shuffle Master will
become more capable to
get the most out of
their strength to buy
logistical property that
will allow them to
develop and protect
their future products
even further.
