Big
Casinos
Entering
Online
Gambling
Market
December
7,
2007
The
MGM
Mirage
and
Harrah’s
Entertainment
have
started
talking
online
gambling
in
the
sense
that
they
might
be
ready
to
dip
a
toe
or
two
into
the
water.
Many
have
wondered
why
the
online
gambling
industry
didn’t
have
many
of
the
major
players
in
terms
of
online
casinos,
but
it
would
seem
that
this
kind
of
speculation
might
be
coming
to
an
end.
According
to
experts,
it
looks
as
though
Harrah’s
might
not
wait
for
the
Unlawful
Internet
Gambling
Enforcement
Act,
or
UIGEA,
to
be
overturned.
They
have
started
talking
about
entering
the
online
gambling
industry,
only
looking
to
focus
on
outside
the
United
States
for
that.
They
are
already
considering
those
countries
that
currently
allow
online
gambling,
or
are
in
the
process
of
making
legislation
that
would
allow
it
to
become
legal.
For
the
MGM
Mirage
it
is
another
story.
They
have
already
tried
the
online
gambling
marketplace,
but
it
didn’t
work
out
so
well
for
them.
They
based
their
online
gambling
site
out
of
the
Isle
of
Man,
but
they
had
such
a
hard
time
getting
players
registered
that
they
finally
had
to
let
it
go.
The
company
is
of
the
belief,
however,
that
they
have
learned
from
their
mistakes
and
that
they
are
all
the
better
for
it
this
time
around.
What
it
basically
comes
down
to
is
that
if
and
when
the
two
companies
decide
to
enter
the
online
gambling
marketplace,
they
will
need
to
have
their
ducks
in a
row.
Large
casinos
such
as
themselves
cannot
necessarily
afford
a
loss
in
the
online
gambling
realm;
especially
MGM
Mirage
considering
they
have
been
down
this
road
before.
