James Po Ho Cheung Killed

December 29, 2007

A well known online gambling mogul, James Po Ho Cheung, was found killed outside his home in his car over the weekend. The 45 year old Cheung was known for his online gambling site and it was a shock to many that he was murdered.

Cheung was the President and Chief Executive Officer for the Costa Rica based 777Betz.com – a popular online gambling site. His body was riddled with bullets and police are searching for a suspect as well as a motive.

Cheung was known for running the 777 Sports Entertainment Group, and had online gambling sites in San Jose and Costa Rica. They were in the process of expanding their empire into wireless online gambling platforms as well. Their main site, the 777Betz.com offered online gambling like Texas Hold’em, Chinese Poker and sports betting.

According to reports, police know that it was murder because of the way the body was found, and the number of bullets that were in him. However, they don’t know why or who would kill the online gambling mogul. According to police, Cheung’s body was discovered by a police patrol early Saturday morning.

Police responded to calls from residents that said that they had heard gun shots and called to see what was going on. Police then went to the area where they found Cheung’s car and body. His car is currently undergoing forensic inspection as is the crime scene.

Police did an autopsy of Cheung’s body back at the morgue to see if they could get any clues as to motive or suspect. They say that as successful as Cheung was it could have been a simple robbery, but they are waiting for further testing to see if they can get a clearer idea of what went on.
