RGA
Files
Against
the
US
December
28,
2007
The
Remote
Gambling
Association
or
RGA,
has
officially
filed
against
the
United
States
because
of
their
unfair
practices
against
the
European
Internet
Gambling
companies
affected
by
the
passing
of
the
Unlawful
Internet
Gambling
Enforcement
Act
or
UIGEA.
The
claim
is
due
to
the
US’s
refusal
to
lift
the
online
gambling
ban,
which
they
say
is
discriminatory
against
them.
The
US
has
just
settled
its
case
with
the
European
Union
in
regards
to
its
case
that
was
sitting
in
the
World
Trade
Organization’s
files,
and
had
gotten
the
decision
in
regards
to
the
WTO’s
case
from
Antigua,
and
now
it
is
looking
at
yet
more
problems
from
the
RGA.
The
RGA
has
been
around
since
2005
when
the
Association
of
Remote
Gambling
Operators
and
the
Interactive
Gaming,
Gambling
and
Betting
Association
Merged.
The
RGA
is
now
representing
both
groups
as
well
as
all
European
internet
gambling
companies.
According
to
their
website
they
speak
as
one
voice
on
all
matters
relating
to
online
gambling
as
it
pertains
to
the
European
gambling
companies.
The
complaint
that
they
have
filed
says
that
the
US
is
discriminating
against
them
and
that
because
they
have
threatened
the
foreign
companies
and
still
allowed
online
gambling
within
their
own
borders,
they
are
in
violation
of
WTO
rules.
They
say
that
if
the
US
is
allowed
to
continue
their
unfair
practices
then
the
WTO
will
be
visibly
weakened
and
it
will
hurt
everyone.
They
say
that
by
allowing
online
gambling
within
their
own
walls,
they
have
allowed
exemptions
to
their
own
law,
and
that
by
continuing
to
keep
the
foreign
operators
out
of
their
country,
they
are
creating
a
monopoly
on
gambling
which
is
unfair
and
illegal.
They
claim
that
they
have
already
lost
billions
with
the
passing
of
the
new
law,
and
if
the
online
gambling
law
is
not
revoked,
then
the
US
must
be
held
accountable
for
their
actions.
