Universal
Closing
Their
Doors
December
11,
2007
Universal
Gaming
Concepts
Inc.
has
announced
that
they
will
no
longer
be
operating
the
Global
Player
brands.
The
online
gambling
company
has
released
a
statement
saying
that
it
is
no
longer
financially
feasible
for
them
to
continue
to
operate.
They
are
reporting
that
all
operations
under
the
brand
name
will
cease
to
exist.
The
company
says
that
with
the
“legal
and
economic
landscape”
changing
as
it
has,
it
just
doesn’t
make
sense
for
them
to
continue
to
try
and
compete,
nor
is
it
financially
smart
for
them
to
try.
They
are
going
to
satisfy
all
obligations
that
they
might
have
to
their
players,
vendors,
affiliates,
etc.
while
they
are
still
able
to.
They
feel
that
if
they
were
to
continue
with
the
online
gambling
that
might
not
be
an
option
at
some
point.
After
eight
years,
the
online
gambling
company
says
that
they
have
been
successful
for
the
majority
of
that
time,
and
has
consistently
looked
for
ways
to
make
the
online
gambling
landscape
a
little
brighter
and
a
lot
more
fun
for
players
in
the
process.
They
just
had
another
launch
of a
poker
platform
in
May
of
this
year,
and
many
thought
that
the
rumors
of
the
discontinuation
were
simply
that
–
rumors.
However,
with
this
announcement
it
is
not
entirely
known
where
the
company
is
planning
on
going
from
here.
The
subsidiary
of
Universal
Gaming
Concepts
is
owned
by
Universal
Gaming
Concepts
Billing
and
Customer
Support
Ltd,
which
is
located
in
Ireland.
The
company
itself
is
licensed
and
bonded
by
the
Government
of
Antigua
and
Barbuda,
and
has
been
in
business
since
1999.
Experts
say
that
it
is
wise
of
them
to
leave
the
online
gambling
industry
while
they
are
still
solvent
so
that
if
they
do
decide
to
come
back
they
will
have
the
trust
of
their
previous
players,
etc.
because
of
the
way
they
handled
leaving
the
industry
the
first
time.
