Is Online Gambling Safe?

Is it? This is the question that plagues many who would love to participate, but cannot as they just don�t know who is on the other end of their internet connection. This is a very real fear, as there are numerous reports of those that have been ripped off by online gambling sites, leaving those that play wary of their hosts.

The first real inkling we had of how deep online gambling problems could go was the Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet scandal, where not only were the online gambling sites not aware of the cheating problem, but they seemed unwilling to do anything about it once they discovered it.

The online gamblers themselves had to go after the suspected cheaters until they got them to stop, but with an unregulated industry there is only so much they can do. The industry falls outside of US law, which means that when someone is discovered cheating, those that were cheated have no recourse. Not only is that, but anything that happens at the online casinos fair game.

You can have your identity stolen, and the person who ultimately rips you off can be persecuted, but if they choose to spend the majority of the money at online casinos you are out of luck unless the casino chooses to return your money. Your bank will not fight for you, legally they cannot. If you are cheated playing any online gambling game, you will have to simply accept that this is the price one pays for participating, as there won�t be anything else you can do.

There are undoubtedly more people having good experiences then those that are not, but in the grand scheme of things, what is it worth to you? Are you willing to risk the chance of being ripped off for a little fun and a chance to win some money? Some would say yes, but I say no.
