| GamblingPhD menu | Horse Racing on the Internet December 28, 2008 The state of New Jersey thinks that the best is yet to come when it comes to online gambling. They think that it is taking off in ways that no one could have predicted and that the income that comes from this will grow exponentially over the next few years. The state thinks that online gambling for the horse racing industry will be more than $200,000 next year, and even more the year after that. Many wonder if the US government has been keeping an eye on this as isnt online gambling supposed to be legal? With revenue figures looking at more than $9 million, one has to wonder what they think of it. The US Department of Justice has had no problem stating that they are opposed to online gambling and that horse racing as it pertains to online gambling is illegal as well, yet it goes on. According to experts, overall operating revenue is expected to decrease while online gambling is expected to increase as it pertains to horses. Now, this does not take into account the fight that is going on in Kentucky right now, as they are trying to keep all online gambling out of the state so that they can keep the money in their casinos. The fact that they have gotten as far as they have with the seizure of the online casino names tells you that you can never be too careful. However, as more people turn to online gambling instead of the tracks, and a new administration coming in, the online casino industry could be looking at some major changes. |
