Dont Prohibit, Protect

December 9, 2008

The argument of keeping online gambling legal has been going on for well over a year now, with many wondering what the real problem is. They say that the government thinks that by passing the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, or UIGEA, that they will get residents to stop online gambling. However, this is not the case and all they have really done is make it more dangerous for them to do so.

Online gambling advocates are once again asking the US to stop prohibiting online gambling and legalize it instead. They say that they have made online gambling a dangerous sport, and that it was not before they got a hold of it. They point to the fact that people have been playing poker at their homes for years, and that all they have done it moved it online.

They say that the government keeps claiming that they are protecting American citizens but really all they are doing is putting them in harms way. They reference the cheating that was going on at Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker and say that this is what they will be facing across the web if they dont regulate it.

They are asking the government to work on protecting their citizens by legalizing and regulating online gambling. Right now people are still doing it, but when they get ripped off they have no recourse. This doesnt help anyone. They say that other countries are making money hand over fist from online gambling and protecting their residents at the same time. They want to know why the US isnt doing that for their residents.
