| GamblingPhD menu | In Support of Online Gambling December 15, 2008 A new ad campaign is promoting the idea of legalizing online gambling. The ads are being mounted by the Poker Players Alliance, and they have decided to mount an all out campaign to get online gambling and poker playing legalized. The ads say that regulation of online gambling is the key. The ads have started running since the special 60 Minutes aired that focused on online gambling and poker playing. The ads feature the slogan, No matter how you cut the deck, regulation is the answer. They want the general public to be aware of all of the benefits to legalizing online gambling, not just the smear campaign and untruths that have been fed them by the Bush Administration. The ads show that not only would the regulation of online gambling bring in billions of tax revenue, but it would also deter and punish those online casinos that were not above board. This would also open the market to allowing online gambling within the states again, but it would only leave room for legitimate gambling sites. The ads talk about how the ban has failed thus far to protect online gambling consumers, and that the only thing it has done is create a black market where crime is thriving. It says that with Congress working on a solution to the online gambling problem, Americans need to be supportive of new regulations that may get passed in the near future. It doesnt separate out online gambling and poker playing, as this is one of the things that have made it tough for them to come together as a group instead it puts them all together in the same boat. |
