Betsson Closes Shop

The online gambling site Betsson has closed their betting shop after a long year and a half of battling to keep it open. The online gambling site had been the subject of much speculation as to whether or not it was a legal entity. The Swedish online gambling group had maintained that they were legal, but the authorities saw it a little differently.
The Swedish Administrative Court of Appeal ruled against the online gambling group which made it impossible for them to keep it open. The online gambling group was responsible for roughly $343,000 in fines, which made it impossible for them to stay open. They said that with the court ruling that the fines would stand even if the company appeals the judgment to the Supreme Administrative Court, they had basically doomed them to failure.
The Swedish Gaming Board ruled it a victory and said that this was merely a vindication for them that their claims that they were illegal were true and that they should not have been operating at all. They said that their presence was illegal under Swedish law and that they finally got what was basically coming to them.
The online gambling group said that they have been legal this whole time, and that they were “extremely surprised” by the ruling. They said that they felt that they were unjustly ruled against and were disappointed in the ruling. They said that they are going to “appeal the decision” and that they were not done fighting the ruling.
