Offshore Online Gambling Companies Weighing
Options

There are enough online gambling companies that
are located offshore now that they are starting
to wonder how much power they have as a group
instead of working alone. Many countries have
recently taken steps to try and regulate their
offshore interests when it comes to online
gambling, and they are starting to wonder if
they might be in a position to combat that.
For example, the United Kingdom is looking at
passing legislature that would allow them to
control those offshore online gambling companies
that want to offer gambling within their
country. They say that because they have lost a
lot of revenue by these online gambling
companies going out of the country that they
have to find a way to recoup their losses.
Therefore they are looking to add on a tax and
licensing fees for any offshore online gambling
company that wants to do business in their
country.
They are not alone as other countries feel that
they have the right to dictate what is offered
in their country – and on some level they do.
They actually have the authority to determine
what is legal and what is not, but some of the
laws that the countries are trying to express
and enforce as it pertains to online gambling is
not necessarily the way that it should be.
The online gambling industry has taken its share
of hits this year, and the reason so many of
them have gone offshore is to avoid the problem
that are associated with being based or licensed
in one country. Only time will tell how much
power they actually have, as most of the
countries not really against online gambling are
pretty much leaving them alone. So for those
that are harassing them, if they threaten to not
offer their services in their country most of
them won’t care.
