A recent study shows that
online gambling can actually improve the quality of retirement living.
The new study says that not only will it give them an additional income
if they are successful, but it also exercises mental faculties that
might not otherwise be used on a daily basis. This goes against what
many others have felt that online gambling would be a detriment to them
but mental industry experts say that it makes a lot of sense.
The University of Pennsylvania and Penn State University were behind the
study which involves almost one thousand seniors. This study showed that
not only do seniors enjoy online gambling, but that it is doing
something positive for them as well. Out of the study almost 70% said
that they had participated in some form of online gambling in the
previous year.
Many of them said that they did it for entertainment value, not to win
money. However, out of those that did play at online gambling the
majority say that they won some sort of cash while doing so. But the
biggest benefit to come out of online gambling is the fact that it is
giving them mental stimulation which can help prevent various forms of
dementia.
According to the study of Alzheimer's disease is the most prevailing
kind of dementia and by participating in online gambling they are
actually working the parts of their brain that are responsible for
mental acuity. With more than 50% of individuals over the age of 85
suffering from Alzheimer's disease a little online gambling might go a
long way towards preventing or at least holding it off a little longer.
