Bodog
Wants
UK
License
February
12,
2008
BodogLife
has
applied
for
an
operating
license
in
the
United
Kingdom
so
that
they
can
advertise
and
run
their
companies
accordingly.
This
comes
hot
on
the
heels
of
the
United
States’
government
attempting
to
go
after
the
company
for
operating
in
the
United
States
when
there
is
an
online
gambling
ban
in
effect.
However,
Bodog
insists
that
this
really
has
nothing
to
do
with
them.
They
are
not
based
in
the
US
and
therefore
are
not
subject
to
US
rule.
They
are
an
Antigua
based
company
and
although
they
have
taken
bets
from
US
customers
they
do
not
operate
there.
Bodog
says
that
they
have
licenses
to
operate
their
online
casinos
from
countries
all
over
the
world,
and
they
have
not
broken
any
laws.
Because
of
the
15%
remote
gaming
tax
that
the
UK
Treasury
has
imposed
on
them,
many
of
the
online
casinos
have
actually
pulled
out
of
the
UK
market
at a
time
when
many
others
are
trying
to
get
in.
Bodog
is
one
of
the
biggest
and
most
well
known
online
gambling
sites
in
the
world.
They
are
also
one
of
the
few
online
gambling
companies
that
continued
to
take
bets
from
US
clients
after
the
passing
of
the
UIGEA.
Calvin
Ayre
seems
to
be
one
of
those
people
who
really
doesn’t
care
what
others
think,
he
is
there
to
have
a
good
time
and
to
follow
the
law
as
he
sees
it.
In
order
to
get
a
license
from
the
UK
Bodog
is
going
to
have
to
jump
through
a
couple
of
hoops.
As
their
license
is
still
pending
with
their
Gambling
Commission,
one
can
only
assume
that
they
stand
a
good
chance
of
getting
in
there.
However,
they
are
going
to
have
to
prove
themselves
a
“fit
and
proper
operator”
to
get
the
license.
