Super Bowl Betting Up and Down

February 13, 2009

As far as the online gambling world is concerned, Super Bowl betting was a boom for business. However, those in Las Vegas might not be as happy about the way that the online gambling world took their bets or so they have come to see it. Online gambling sites reported that their betting was up, but the casinos and sports bookers in Vegas have reported a drop in their bets.

The amount of money bet through the sports books was so low in fact that many of them were only able to cover the bets that were made because the Steelers did not cover the spread. They think that the advent of sports books through the online gambling industry took much of their income that would have normally come from additional bookings.

They say that it didnt help that so many were so sure that the Steelers would beat Arizona that they had much fewer bets on the Cardinals than they did on the Steelers. According to the Nielsens more people watched this specific Super Bowl than have ever before in the history of the game. There were 98.7 million people watching the game, and the second most was the 2008 game between the New York Giants and New England.

The online gambling casinos however found that they did very well. They say that last Super Bowl they had bets on their sites, but not nearly as many as this year. They also found that throughout the game itself people were hitting these online gambling sites placing bets, which hadnt happened as much last year either.
