| GamblingPhD menu | No Online Gambling? Really? February 10, 2009 There is something to be said for a franchise that is dedicated to wiping out online gambling. The National Football League (NFL) is bound and determined that online gambling will remain illegal and has put a lot of money on the movement to keep it illegal no matter who is in the White House. However, for a group that is so dedicated to keeping online gambling illegal, they may want to make sure that their game announcers are aware of that fact. Instead, anytime you turn into any sports event surrounding the Super Bowl they are talking about online gambling and football as if they go hand in hand. The NFL has been adamant that they dont want to see online gambling legalized, but their announcers cant help themselves from discussing odds and placing bets. The Super Bowl is one of the biggest gambling events of the year, and to think that people are not going to participate in online gambling surrounding it you would have to be kidding yourself. Al Michaels was just talking about how he placed a bet on the game, and the CNN anchors are even talking about it. Tony Harris said that he had placed a bet then corrected himself into saying in Vegas, although it was obvious that it was online gambling that they were talking about. It doesnt matter what the NFL says, nor really our government for when it comes to sports, and particularly the Super Bowl, you are not going to find that people are willing to give up gambling on it. Instead of trying to stop people from their online gambling bets on the game, they should be trying to figure out how they can get a part of the action. |
