Problem Gamblers Not Excited About Online Gambling Access

February
13, 2010

There were many announcements and reports over the past couple of weeks regarding Loto Quebec making online gambling part of their offerings. Everyone was either for it because of all of the money that it would bring in for the country, or they were against it – which was mostly the Kahnawake commission because they didn’t understand why they were being shut out. But in all of this talking, there wasn’t much about the fact that they were not offering online gambling to anyone and everyone who wanted it.

This is where the problem gamblers have, well, a problem. They say that they live in areas where they might not be able to get near a casino for a reason, and now that they are offering online gambling they have just brought it into their living rooms. They say that allowing addicts this much access to gambling is truly a recipe for disaster as many of them are not able to keep themselves from gambling now – except to live very far away from it.

They decided to either take themselves out of the equation by moving because they couldn’t live near one, or they put themselves on the list of people who needed to be banned from the casinos – all because of the fact that they are aware that they have a problem. Online gambling not only ruins that for them in terms of someone keeping them from gambling – but they have literally left them to their own devices to police themselves.

This is just a bad idea across the board. They want online gambling kept illegal because they understand that by allowing access to the online gambling arena that they have just opened them up to a whole lot of problems.
