No Decision Reached –
The Waiting Continues

The waiting continues today
for a decision in regards to Kentucky’s fight to seize online gambling
control of 141 domain names. This fight has been going on for some time
now, but the online gambling community was hoping for a decision by now.
This past Thursday the online gambling groups were waiting as there was
talk that there might be a decision made, but to no avail.
The Kentucky Supreme Court is still weighing the issue and has not been
able to come to a conclusion yet. Now they are going to have to wait
until at least the middle of March to see if a decision has come down
yet. The online gambling community might be disappointed, but experts
say that they were not surprised. They said that this is in no way an
indication of how they court might be ruling, and they say that at this
point it is merely a formality.
The state had seized 141 online gambling domain names in an attempt to
block online gambling in their state. They were hoping to keep a
monopoly in Kentucky and therefore had moved forward on seizing such
online gambling names as Full Tilt Poker and Poker Stars.
In October the court had heard both cases and had said that they needed
time to discuss. Then in December, the Commonwealth attorney’s filed a
motion to add names to the case. They said that they had online gambling
ties and they were United States’ citizens which changed the rules of
the game.
