Online Gambling
Sides Gearing Up
February

With new online gambling
legislation getting more and more serious about getting passed, both
sides in this hot bed of an issue are gearing up. Both opponents and
proponents are working hard to get members of Congress to see why it is
important to take their side in the issue. With this in mind, they have
both taken to both print and media to sell their side to the American
public as well.
But recent reports show that although there are two very large factions
of people who have a very strong opinion as to whether or not online
gambling should be legal, the majority of people really don’t care. Most
people say that although they themselves would not participate in online
gambling, they don’t care if other people choose to. The argument that
it is a cesspool of corruption and greed, etc. simply doesn’t work on
them. They don’t feel that there is a real danger in terrorists
laundering money, and they don’t think that there is any real danger for
their country by allowing it.
However, for those that have some inkling of making online gambling
illegal, most of them have a problem with the fact that it is accessible
to anyone with a credit card. They do worry about their children
participating in online gambling, and they do worry about people
becoming addicted to it. Some believe that there is a real chance of
online gambling addiction forming, while others think that it is simply
the problem of making it so accessible to those that might not want it
to be because they already have a problem.
For now though one thing they can all agree on is the fact that online
gambling would bring in a lot of money for the US. They agree that
billions of dollars of much needed revenue could be funneling thorugh
the country and sine the US is already the biggest market for online
gambling while it is illegal – they say to make it legal so that they
can at least benefit from it.
