Numerous Online
Gambling Bills
February

It is funny – about a year
ago, maybe slightly longer, you couldn’t get anyone other than Rep.
Barney Frank and Rep. Ron Paul to talk to you about online gambling.
Everyone else was so afraid of the Bush Administration that they sat
back and watched Frank and Paul work to try and get online gambling
legalized, and shook their heads as they attempted over and over to make
it happen. They worked hard to try and get the Unlawful Internet
Gambling Enforcement Act, or UIGEA, overturned and no one would help
them. They couldn’t figure out why they were still pushing for it.
Then the tide started to turn. Barack Obama was elected President and
the people came out in droves to support him and to start taking back
their government. They tried to move forward with all of the things that
they wanted to see legalized, including online gambling. They felt that
they had a real chance of it happening, and so their representatives
started getting nervous that perhaps now they might want to get on the
band wagon and legalize online gambling.
But Frank and Paul have been pushing along this whole time, and now they
have a slew of supporters. They have a ton of people who say that they
want to see online gambling legalized and are willing to support the
bill. Now you are also starting to see a bunch of other online gambling
bills hitting the dockets as well. There are ones for online gambling to
fund health care, some for taxation issues, etc.
It used to be that you could not get anyone to talk about online
gambling – and now it has become fashionable to have a bill regarding
it. It is the new black if you will. And still…Frank and Paul push away.
