Pennsylvania Site of Illegal Online Gambling

Between slot machines and
the latest addition of table games to their gambling line up,
Pennsylvania has been expanding their gambling options at an alarming
rate. Some say that they are moving entirely too fast, and others say
that they can’t move fast enough for their taste. Residents across the
state can now visit anyone of several casinos across the state to play
their favorite gambling games, and many say that it is really exciting
to finally have it so close instead of having to go to the Jersey Shore
in order to play. All that is left is for the state to legalize online
gambling and they will be set to go.
However, obviously there are some that think that this is not enough.
They think that there should be more gambling – right in their living
room. Patte’s Sports Bar is the establishment in question. According to
authorities, the bar is under federal investigation for offering online
gambling to their clients. The bar is located in Wilkes-Barre, PA – home
to the private Catholic college King’s College, which this writer
attended many years ago.
Justice officials say that they found an illegal sports betting
operation within the bar and that they were filing an indictment against
the owner of the bar, Pat Patte, Jr. According to reports, federal
authorities are attempting to seize the bar as it is the home of an
illegal gambling operation. They said that the bar both paid out and
collected wagers which are illegal in all states except for Delaware,
Montana, Nevada and Oregon.
However, nothing has been done so far to make these moves. In fact,
Patte was granted permission to go on a trip to the Bahamas by the judge
and his bar is still running just as it was before. Experts say that
this is because online gambling has become so popular now that most
authorities are hesitant to move too fast on the laws that are related
to gambling in any way.
