Another
Lawsuit
for
Search
Engines
January
15,
2008
Hagens
Berman
Sobol
Shapiro
(HBSS)
has
filed
a
lawsuit
against
Google
and
Yahoo!,
as
well
as
several
other
websites
as
they
say
that
the
deal
that
they
made
with
the
government
was
not
strict
enough.
Microsoft,
Google
and
Yahoo!
all
recently
signed
deals
with
the
government
that
had
them
paying
for
profiting
off
of
the
advertising
of
online
gambling.
The
lawsuit
that
the
government
settled
with
the
sites
did
not
have
any
of
the
companies
admitting
wrong
doing;
they
simply
chose
to
settle
out
of
court
for
various
sums
of
money.
However,
HBSS
says
that
they
didn’t
go
far
enough
with
the
punishment.
They
say
that
the
sites
profited
for
years
off
of
online
gambling
and
their
advertisements
and
the
amount
of
money
they
paid
is
merely
a
drop
in
the
bucket.
They
want
to
limit
the
amount
of
advertising
that
the
sites
can
do
so
as
to
hit
them
even
harder.
They
say
that
what
they
did
was
illegal,
and
that
they
did
it
for
years
–
even
though
it
was
against
California
law.
The
case
will
be
heard
on
February
11th
to
see
if
they
have
a
valid
position.
They
are
hoping
that
the
court
sees
it
their
way
and
places
these
requested
restrictions
on
all
of
the
sites.
They
argue
that
the
settlements
with
the
government
are
“tacit
admissions”
by
the
sites
of
wrongdoing
and
they
must
be
held
accountable.
They
want
the
companies
to
admit
wrongdoing
and
to
pay
relief
for
having
operated
the
way
they
have
been.
They
also
want
acknowledgements
from
the
sites
that
state
that
advertising
online
casinos
in
the
state
of
California
is
illegal.
