UK’s
Online
Casinos’
Relocating
January
15,
2008
With
the
new
gambling
laws
that
the
UK
has
put
in
force,
many
online
gambling
companies
are
starting
to
feel
the
pinch
from
them
are
starting
to
seek
sunnier
climates.
They
are
moving
their
online
casinos
overseas
as
they
are
just
a
little
more
friendly
when
deciding
how
much
they
are
going
to
take
from
them
and
what
they
are
going
to
allow.
The
UK
put
the
regulations
in
place
to
encourage
responsible
gaming,
but
in
doing
so
has
made
it
harder
for
the
online
casinos
to
survive
because
of
the
taxes
that
came
with
those
regulations.
They
might
be
allowing
you
to
advertise
your
online
gambling
site,
but
you
are
going
to
pay
through
the
nose
to
be
able
to
do
so.
Many
of
the
smaller
online
casinos
especially
cannot
afford
to
pay
the
high
taxes
and
are
simply
moving
away.
A
15%
tax
on
online
gambling
is
entirely
too
high,
especially
when
they
can
simply
move
to
Gibraltar
or
the
Channel
Islands
and
pay
significantly
less.
The
more
they
try
to
tax
and
regulate,
the
less
attractive
they
seem
to
the
online
gambling
industry.
The
online
casinos
are
finding
that
they
can
still
advertise
as
they
are
on
the
government’s
white
list,
but
they
can
relocate
somewhere
else
and
pay
fewer
taxes.
They
also
don’t
have
to
deal
with
the
strict
licensing
and
regulations
that
the
UK
has
put
in
place,
all
the
while
making
more
money
from
their
site.
With
the
UK
being
such
big
fans
of
online
gambling,
it
only
makes
sense
for
the
government
to
ease
up
on
the
taxes
and
restrictions,
as
they
could
really
be
looking
at a
potential
windfall
in
revenue
if
they
would
just
relax.
